Her passion for art started as a child. On a wintry day, she would sketch or paint, and she was thrilled to win her first awards as a teenager. Unique approaches have been developed over the years and she continues to expand, and sometimes combine, different techniques. Early years began using oil, charcoal and inks and in recent years, she has added acrylic mediums. Inspirations emerge from the everchanging beauty of nature. Helen loves to include abstract elements such as palette knife and textural additions against gentle backgrounds. When painting, she feels every work takes on a life of its own and each piece evolves with spontaneity.
